What about the Jamis Commuter 2? After test riding a ton of internal-gear-hub-having commuter bikes, I decided that was the best bike for the money, and absolutely loved riding it home from the bike shop. There are prettier bikes, but for my money, you can't do better than the 2.0

Also - I absolutely love your blog. Thanks for what you're doing.

The Jamis Commuter series has been changed this year. Now the Commuter 4 has a 8-speed Shimano Nexus rear hub instead of the derailer set-up, and a front Dynamo hub and light, for only $750. We will post an update soon.
