Papillionaire Bicycles was founded in Australia, but is now offering its chromoloy Dutch-style bikes in the United States and has opened a retail shop in Red Hook, Brooklyn.
Papillionaire's Classic and Sommer models feature internal 3-speed Shimano hubs, fenders, chainguards (they describe them as "half chaincases") and leather saddles. Both bikes sell online starting at $549, currently with free shipping to celebrate their USA launch.

Geez, I really get annoyed when someone who reviews a cycle uses wrong terminology. A case in point is the writer referring to this bike as being a Dutch-type. 'Ain't nuffin' about either the gents or the the step-through model that can justify calling them Dutch-style. The gents model is a light-roadster and the step-through is poorly configured with a handlebar having an inapproptriat rise.

These bikes are more like English Style bikes minus the quality of the Dutch bikes.
I might add, what's with these cacamamie fenders? They don't extend far enough downward to prevent water from spalashing onto the rider! Is the bike equally thoughtlessly configured in other ways that are not visable in the photos?

Great to see Papillionaire outside of Australia! Pity they're so hard to find in their own country of origin but I wish them international success anyway :)
Ah, classic bikes - went out of fashion, but are great models nonetheless. But as a fellow biker myself (not the biggest one though), I have to agree with the above comments making a fine nuanced distinction between bike models, not much of a big deal though. I'd like to get my hands on one of these "Papilionaire" bikes as long as I haven't replaced my razor scooter battery.
Bought one of these for my wife as a Christmas present Have a good look at these before you buy one as the build quality is not great. I spent over an hour using the touch up paint they gave me to fix all the nicks in the paint. This was in the Sydney "showroom" I wanted a replacement but they were all in the same condition. I then took it for a test drive and the chain guard was dragging and I had to adjust that as well. Then took it in the house where the light was good and nothing seems to align. Even the rear reflector is crooked!
Not happy to pay $700 for this.
